Drilling a hole for 9mm stem.

Post by olewaylon »

Hi, I'm working on an old Casini and I'm trying to fit a universal 9mm stem into it. Ive been working with a file set but i don't think i will be able to keep the hole round if i finish with them. Would you recommend in finish the hole with a drill bit? if so what size bit would i need?

thanks for your help.

If you are talking about the mortise, it should be 9mm, however, I would measure it. A 25/64 bit may also do the trick. Many slight variations exist. Better too small then you can use 320 grit sandpaper to slowly get there good luck and be patient. Tenon wise is a snap. Same 320 paper to slowly get it to go in, not easy, but with some resistance. Hope this helps.
