Ethnographic Survey!!!

Post by Gershom »

Fellow Pipe Smokers,

I am in need of your help. I am taking an ethnography class in my Master’s program, and must conduct a study on a certain people group. Well, they gave me the option to choose, so what finer people than you guys? I am studying the varying worldviews of smokers in general. I have about 10 essential questions about life that I need answered.
The views given to me will be presented to my professors with anonymity given to each participant. So in other words, no one will know who said what. This is to encourage authentic answers. If you are interested, send me a private message answering these questions! Thanks in advance for your help in this. Feel free to write as much or as little as you want.

1. Who are you and where did we come from?

2. Who or what is your God, or, what is the ultimate principle in your life?

3. What is the problem with humanity? How do we solve it?

4. How do you measure success in life?

5. How do you know what you know?

6. How do you tell truth from untruth?

7. How do you know right from wrong?

8. How do you respond to society’s distaste of smoking in general?

9. How do you respond to religious groups who look down upon you for smoking?

10. How do you justify smoking even with the proposed health risks?

I don't see how your views would insult me, especially when I asked for them! :) Besides, all the best conversations happen after midnight when the philosophical self is on the loose. Thanks for responding!

wmolaw,

Whenever you have the time to do it. I have to have the report by the end of the semester, but it has to be polished, etc.

I am also interviewing smokers who frequent pipe shops. It is going to be a very interesting report. I plan on reporting the findings in an anonymous way so that those who participated can see the report.

Uber, thank you.

And to set the record straight, Sas did participate. I guess he is truly a "proper" wood turner.

Anyone else who wants to participate please feel free to PM me with your answers!
