Kurt, thanks, as the others have said.

Now, is this a one-time fuckup or something that money would fix - ie is there a newer more stable platform for the forum to run on etc?

Excellent question. I wouldn't mind contributing some money to get a more stable platform.

This was a one-time fuckup, compounded by a lack of investment. Database corruption, drive failure, corrupted backups - pretty much the perfect storm of IT-related problems. Like said to someone earlier in the week - if this was the day job, I'd be scolding someone for not testing their disaster recovery plan.

That said, one exceedingly generous forum member has contributed the entire nut required to pretty much ensure this never happens again. After I got over the initial shock, I started working on prepping everything to move to a hosting provider over the next couple weeks. Now that everything is in a "clean" state, it should go pretty much without incident.

I would like to extend my thanks again to Kurt for all his hard work at maintaining the forum and for fixing it when disasters happen.

As I'm certain this is already on your list, Kurt, I thought I'd ask: when do you expect TapaTalk to be back online?

updated gallery its back up and showing new posts, all the photos from june to current still appear in order posted with a subject and they're linked to the author etc, just won't link into the board because the threads are gone. so there's still a photo archive of the missing posts if you want to remenis they span a couple pages.

Kurt has said that contributions are welcome. But the reality is that this forum cost him real money real time and real frustration.
I’ve been lurking around this forum for several years now; I have been very remiss considering the benefit I have received as a carver.
I now think I should donate to this forum regularly; there is always real cost and real work to keep something like this running.
I can’t give a lot of good advice on making pipes but I can and should make a regular donation.

Steve you don’t need the donate button to donate. Just use PayPal to send a donation. Kurt’s email address is on his web site at http://www.pipecrafter.com/ just say it’s for the forum.
Artisans never finish their work – they merely abandon it.
Ideally, they abandon it at that point, where they are not sure if change, will improve or diminish it.

Kurt, I have to thank you too for getting the forum back on-line and my account back in order. I'm one of the newer members which made it more of a hassle for you to restore my account. Your e-mail replies were very quick and I could tell you worked your butt off without any complaints. Thanks.

P.S. The search function is finally working for me.
