#17 - first rhodesian... sort of

Post by BrianMadsen »

I started on a rhodesian, and the block was really bad, so it became garbage in the early stages,
so i consider this to be the first real attempt instead.
I know there are several things to point out.
First, the shape is not really a rhodesian, but also very dublin'ish.
The stem is maybe a little too long, and could more elegant.
The stamping is just pure crap.

you know the drill

Definitely qualifies as a rhodesian. Pretty good shaping as well. The only thing I would say is what you have already said: the stem could be more eloquent. In the first pic it looks like the stem dips down just to the right of the inlay. You want to have one continuous line from the top of the shank all the way to the button and the same on the bottom (the sides as well). Other than that its a pretty decent pipe. Keep it up.

unless a stem is speaking it's not likely to be eloquent

Sounds like you're applying for the Apprentice Curmudgeon job that Tyler posted last week. :D

Show us some more. I like your style so far.

I like this pipe. The stem looks like it could use a bit more sanding though.
