First attempts at pipe making

Post by kkendall »

These are my first 2 attempts at pipe making. I will be getting some pipe finishing training this next weekend (which I so badly need to learn!)

This was made from the leftover piece of briar from the pipe above...my bonus pipe

I like the cumberland stems. Did you hand cut those?

Stock stems

Post by kkendall »

LexKY - No, I'm not ready to make stems yet. This is a stock stem from the Pipe Makers Emporium.

The only tools I have are Dermel and files. Wanted to make sure this was something I could actually do before investing in equipment, ie; motor, sanding disc, buffing wheels, etc.

After I had the briar cleaned up, I marked it up and asked Paul @ PME to drill the block where I had indicated. After I cut off the piece that wasn't being included in the first pipe, I planned the second pipe, marked it up then had him drill the second piece.

This is the raw (Algerian) block
