some more

Post by geigerpipes »

Its been an intense summer and luckally the weather was lousy in Sweden so we could spend most of it in our Cosy shop..Yesterday I finished up the last pipe to be made in a month, Will spend the next month upgrading the shop and getting our second child :P exiting times to say the least

Heres are a few resent pipes, the first 2 where made with spoon bits made by Eltang the first pipes I made drilling prior to shaping so now all my fellow scandinavian pipemaker freinds wont shake their head when i tell them I drill in a chuck

Awesome Love, just awesome!

I really love them all but the twisted volcano and the belly flop are very very cool!

That is a lovely piece of wood, and what is even better is the name, Pierced Virgin! Your pierced pieces are fascinating. I'm curious what your driling and assembly procedures are for them... like, do you drill the bowl, pre-drill the shank horizontal and vertical, then drill the through hole below the bowl, insert shank and align? or what?

Wow, these are very beautiful pipes, Love! Your work just amazes me. I think they are all fantastic. You have nailed each one!

The Pierced Virgin has beautiful grain, and your shape and finish show it off to wonderful advantage. The Twisted Volcano is very unique. It is something like if a Volcano were looking into one of those distorted Carnival mirrors. This type of unusual shape would not normally appeal to me, but this one does. Your work sells it beautifully. The Belly flop is my favorite shape of all of these. The blast along the bottom and over all flow of the piece with the grain is fantastic!

It is always a great pleasure to see your work, Love. Thanks very much for posting these!

Thanks you guys I'm glad you liked them...

The pierced virgin was fun to make one of the nicer peices of briar I have worked and that would have probably made a rusticate because of the way the grain was alligned if I couldn't have shaped before drilling.. it was only my second attempt at drilling freehand and with a beutifull twised piece of stummel it made me just a little nervous lucally it was a sucsess

The drilling is rather simple you have 2 centers for drilling one for the tb chamber and one for where the shank goes. after drilling the stummel you make the shank drill it with a morise and vertical airway glue it in and drill down trough the airway of the stummel down into the airway of the shank...that way you'll get it perfectly alligned
