The algerian briar contacted me again

Post by smokepiper »

This time he mailed me 6 months sice my last mail to him that were everything but nice, it´s 2 years since i prepayed the blocks from algeria. He says that 5 parcels has been lost by the french delivery and he´s trying a new shipment to me in august when his briar has dried.

Hopefully he´s not playing games with me and this is what really happend to the parcels he sent and the next delivery will turn up at my doorstep. I wanted you all to know the progress about this cause i have posted about this problem before at this forum.

Ronny, I think Steve knew your name from the start, he was just coming on to you. He was going to call you Darling  , but felt it was a bit too forward for a first approach. LOL. (j/k).
Regards,
Frank.

Hi there,
Georgi from GETZpipes here.
I don't want to speculate with this, but Yazid is obviously having the same answer for everybody he must deliver prepayed briar to. I've got an e-mail from him a month ago, tha says the same - parcel lost in France, and hopefuly I will receive another soon. It has been a year since I've paid the blocks. Still waiting for.

Has anybody ordered briar from Yazid and actually got it?

Yes. I got briar from him in June. But I refused to pay until I received the package.

I have. But I always get my briar prior to sending payment.

Depending on where you are, I'd suggest one of the more stable suppliers. If you're in the states, look to PME, PIMO, or the pipemakers that sell to hobbyists - Tim West, Mark Tinsky, etc. It's typically not cost effective (factoring in shipping) to order from European or North African sources until you're willing to commit to at least 100 blocks.

That said, you can find suppliers here:

I'm waiting for an order as we speak. I heard from him today that the order would be shipped this Friday.

I'll let everyone know when I hear more. The language barrier is slightly more than annoying but not quite alarming. :)

Update:

The package from Yazid finally showed up in the USPS tracking system on wednesday of this week! It had apparently just cleared customs. I'll let everyone know what the package looks like when it gets here in a couple of days (I'm assuming it will contain every block as ordered).

Yazid's briar arrived today. I am pleasantly surprised at the quality of the blocks. I orderd a mixture of Tassili grade plateaux and some ebs...both categories appear quite lovely upon initial inspection.

From my recent correspondence with Yazid, it sounds as if he has been pretty swamped lately with US orders, which is part of the reason for the delay in shipment. I'm definitely eager to order from him again, though I will be sure from now on to arrange for payment upon receipt just to eliminate the mental stress factor. :)

I got an order from him a few months back. It arrived ten days after I confirmed the details of the order. I was surprised as I expected a much longer wait. I did not send payment until I received the order. bob gilbert
