I make my Shellac from flakes, Do as stated, several thin coats work better than one big one.After it cures a light bristle brush, natural or metal will even it out then I put carnuba over it and it will buff up, if not you can always brush it up again.Slow speed on the buffer always works for me.Quality q-tips or pipe cleaners work well…You are making progress!!!

You guys using a nylon wheel, is this what y'all use? It says it's 150 grit. Wouldn't that take off my shellac?

Run the brush at hi speed on a board and wear it down then at a slow speed buff the pipe.Should work unless you get too aggressive.Several coats later it will shine.

A nylon wheel will remove detail from a blast. If that's what you're going for, proceed.

The nylon wheel I meant is not an abrasive wheel, think motorized toothbrush.

It's a big difference between abrasive bristles and just plain nylon ones. Abrasive bristle wheels come in different grits, are very useful, but will take away material. Nylon bristles without any abrasives are very gentle.
Jeremiah, I don't know what kind of nylon bristles you buy, but the ones I use will not take away any material, not even at 1400rpm, so the blast's structure is safe.

I guess it depends on what kind of nylon we're talking about. The nylon wheels I've seen are good for removing bark on plateaux, not really polish work. Then again, I'm happy with my blast finishes and not really looking for alternatives that involve nylon wheels. If it works for you, great!

I got mine in a 3 pack with different "grits" and they can get pretty rough so try to use the lowest RPM that you can while still being effective. I tinnk I bought mine at ACE hardware.
You could also go at it with brass brush in your hand.

Don't use a brass brush! The brass is soft and will transfer to the briar.
