Abrasives question

Post by MikeStanley »

Hello All;
I picked up some powdered Pumice and Rottenstone the other day. The Pumice is the finest of four levels sols at Woodcrafter. Where this stuff fall as far as abrasiveness compared to 600, 1000, 1200 and 1500 grit wet dry paper? I mix the pumice and rottenstone with wool lube from the same store.
Thanks!

Hi Mike,

Rottenstone is finer than pumice. The only use I have put them to as yet, is to rub down a varnished finish on furntiture or a fine box. The varnish on it's own is good, but when rubbed with pumice, then rottenstone, then waxed, it ends up feeling and looking much nicer. Fun stuff to explore.
