Lost Creek Machine

Post by wdteipen »

Yesterday I made the drive to Lost Creek Machine in Ottawa, Illinois to pick up an Atlas 10x24 metal lathe. This place is a pipemaker's paradise. To boot, Matt and his brother are top notch nice guys. An absolute pleasure to work with. The kind of guys I could stay and talk to all day long and I don't like that sort of thing. Here are some pics of their place:

The pictures really don't do this place justice. Just tons of stuff there with bins and shelves to pick through. I could have spent hours there but I had to cut myself off before I spent too much. I'm hesitant to post this source because there's some things I still would like to purchase for myself there but these guys deserve our business. Their website is http://www.lostcreekmachine.com/metal_lathes.htm. Check them out and stop in if you're within driving distance. It's well worth the drive. Just don't buy the stuff I want which is most of their stuff.

They have a couple Hardinge turret lathes for pretty cheap that I'd love to have. They look like they need a good deal of work but are pretty clean for not being reconditioned.
