A&M Steel Stamps

Post by PremalChheda »

Hello Friends,

I just got off the phone with Paul Argendorf from A&M Steel Stamps. He has been making stamps for fine briars for many decades, and he knows what will work and what will not. He is very old school and may be a bit hard to get a hold of, but he has always come through for me and I have had turnaround times averaging about 1 week.

His prices are lower than everyone else for font type stamps, and they work very well on briar. He will tell you if your design will not work.

He also on occasion shows up to a pipe show just to thank his loyal customers. Wow!

I am a bit loyal to a fault, but I could not imagine going to another stamp maker. He goes the extra mile for pipe makers.

He did have a period of no contact due to personal reasons, and his old email got hacked. Here is his new email and contact:

Make sure to contact him by phone if you are in the USA. You will probably have to leave a message since he usually has machines running and cannot hear the phone. He will call back fairly quickly. If you are outside the USA, he may take a little longer to get back via email.

I have no affiliation with him. I am just a very very very happy customer.

I ordered my first stamp from him and his service was good. I must have hit him up for my second one during the time he was away. I went with Buckeye and they had the stamp out to me within a week and were also very competent. The cost for Buckeye was a bit more, but he also took the time to refine my design to work better on briar. I'm not affiliated with either one, but have worked with both.

I actually saw your stamps with handles on buckeye's instagram, which was the trigger for me to contact them.

Does Paul at A&M provide stamps with a handle as well?

I have to say ordering from him can be tricky and a little slow when you are in the UK, but the quality of the stamps is very good.

I’ve been trying to contact Paul off and on for a couple of years. The last time I got stamps from him was probably about the time this thread stopped and he mentioned some health problems. I assume (and hope) he retired, anybody know? And where to get stamps now? Nobody seems to know what pipemakers need, and I’ve had several tell me that stamps that Paul actually made for me are impossible to make.

Ok, saw him on the Abom79 youtube series. Have you used him? Can he do .075” tall numerals?

I have used him and was completely satisfied.

No idea about dimensional limits or etc. You'll have to ping him with specifics.

Just in case anybody's been trying to get a hold of A&m.
He kind of went under the radar because he was moving earlier this year. I've been having a hell of a time getting a hold of him for the last year. He has a new number and the Google listing has not been updated.
He's still in business, and he completed his move. He's taking orders again. He has a new number. 1 631 573 6421

Great to hear that! I had tried getting my 2021 stamp from Paul like I usually do, and was unable to reach him. Must have been about the time he was moving.... that hard (or impossible) to reach has happened before). I went with Buckeye for 2021, and it worked out great... Nice to have options...
