VIDEOS--Metal Lathe use and safety

Hey folks,

I know that I haven't been present on the board for...well, years. Between being a full-time pipe maker, father, husband, and member of my local community time for forums has become less and less.

That being said, I ran across a few links to some videos that I wish I had seen when I first started making pipes. I was given a basic primer in using a lathe, but not much. These videos offer very helpful instructions for using your new hunk of metal and not killing yourself in the process. The fact that they are made by a smartypants MIT instructor for the school's prototyping students should make you feel smarter for having seen them.

If these have already been posted, sorry for the repeat. If they haven't, I think their content offers a pretty solid argument for this post being a sticky.

Good luck and safe turning.

are the cutters he uses on the aluminum stock the same as those you guys use to do stem work?

I have access to a metal lathe but no experience at all. After watching these videos I think I'll give it a go.

Well, poop. Looks like MIT took them down or moved them.
