Jet 920w start not engaging ?

Post by EBK »

Hi guys,

My jet 920w is starting when I press the green power button, motor turns, but as soon as I let go of the button it slows to a halt as if the stop button has been pressed.

Any one else have this issue or does anyone have ideas on a fix?

Thanks and happy holidays!

Hey Eric,

I think Growley had a similar problem with his Jet. You might try getting in touch with him.

I think I've already gotten EBK taken care of, but here's the original link that I posted the issue in again for reference.

As a side note, I've been up and running ever since. The "Magnetic Contactor" was definitely the problem and solution. A simple way of knowing if it's out is this: When the jet lathe BD920 is working properly, it only clicks once when you push the green power button. That's the sound the Magnetic Contactor makes when in engages. It makes the same sound when it disengages, such as hitting the red failsafe button. If it makes a click when you press the button, but then clicks again when you let the button go, it's not staying engaged.

Hope this helps.
