How'd I get swept up in this?
Not sure bro!
In any case I'm about to do the last of the turning tonight, then get the lathe cleaned back up for pipes. I did take a couple of orders from guys here but I'm not taking anymore, at least not on this round! I've got to get back to making pipes, with 35 or so pipe orders to fill and having to do them in between bouts of Narcolepsy it takes me much longer than most. Thanks for the comments guys, after I ruffled some feathers, at least I got someone to talk to me!

You would have got a better response if you included pricing in the thread. Not all of us are signed into facebook all the time, and you have to be signed in to view the link you provided. That said, your bits are very similar to what has already been available on the market, and so many people already have them. It is great that you are offering this at a lower cost as a favor, but it is not much lower (J. Alan's lowest priced one is only $85.00) and you are unknown to many of us.

Don't blame you guys I'd rather pay $100 for a lesser bit too, the name is surely worth wasting another $25.
Insulting the entire member base and a very nice, hard working tool/pipe maker (that already did us a favor by making spoon bits available to us when we needed them) when you do not get a response is just rude.

I tried to delete this comment but realized after someone responds it can't be deleted, only edited. If the administrators would like to delete this whole post I certainly understand.

I already explained that I was being sarcastic and kidding, just like other member do!
My apologies I'll see myself to the door!
Tim, I did not intend to push you away from participating on this forum. I did see your reference to being sarcastic but the "Relax Dude" did not help it.

Sarcasm does not translate well on forums, and especially to people that you do not know or do not know you.

Be welcome here, but maybe wait a few seconds and re-read what you write before hitting the submit button.

Tim,

I just realized that no one explained why spoon bits are made for free hand drilling.

The reason is so you do not break your hand while doing it. Spoon bits are less likely to catch and twist the workpiece in your hand. The reason why it does not make sense to use a spoon bit in a drill first method is that a profiled spade bit or S&D bit costs so much less and they cut better. Also, a spoon bit will not last as long as an s&d or spade bit. Why spend even $75 for a spoon bit when you can buy a spade bit for about $3.00 and 10 minutes of grinding a profile?

This is why it is very important for the spoon bits to be properly tested by an experienced freehand drilling pipe maker before it is sold on the market. If there is a flaw in the design, someone could get seriously injured and lose their livelihood.

Thanks Premal, You are right. I didn't think of this and I'm sure others didn't also.
