How you got into pipe making: I’ve been an amateur woodworker for about 10 years- more of a glorified whittler really and have access to a lot of olive wood from some really old trees. I’m a LOTR fan and wanted to make myself a long stemmed pipe (go ahead judge me)
It turned out okay and went through a number of improvements in design over the years but they really lacked elegance and my methods have been shoddy at best. Peace pipe/war club-esque in appearance but they have had nice grain. I’ve learned multiple ways not to make a pipe in the process. I’ve seen some of your work scrolling through this forum and would love to learn from you guys. You’re real artists. I recently bought some pre molded stems on eBay and have made a couple pipes that look more traditional to me but I didn’t really try to make any particular shape. They’re kinda bent apple/eggish in shape.Other interesting facts: I don’t talk politics at all. No quicker way to ruin a good time.
