Hola Pipemakers.

Out of curiosity, I pulled a long-dead manzanita root ball from the sand here in Scotts Valley, California, cut it into pieces, and attempted to make a pipe or two. For now, I'm hooked. The info on these forums has been very useful.

Real name: Michael
Age: 50's
Location: Scotts Valley, California
Years a pipe smoker: 1/2
How you got into pipe making: I heard about briar, and wondered if manzanita would be a feasible alternative
Other interesting facts: First pipe was a Peterson System 312, next a Television Churchwarden, then a 1957 Charaton's Billiard.

Welcome Michael! I'd love to see photos of your Manzanita pipe. (even if it looks like my own first pipe! :o )

I've been planning to try making a Manzanita pipe as well. I have a thirty-year old Manzanita root ball that I plan to cut up and turn. Wish me luck! Do you have any observations on Manzanita you can share?
