Some advice?

The chamber bit jumped and left this gouge on the rim. As I see it my options are to try to bevel the inside of the rim to hide it, or to shorten the bowl.
I included the side view to show the current bowl height if I were to shorten it. My dilemma is that I'm working with rudimentary tools and fear I'd not be able to Mars clean, consistent bevel, but I'm thinking the bowl would end up too short if I sand it down.
Any suggestions on making a smooth bevel would be greatly appreciated.
