Squaring a Block

Post by whitebar »

What method do you guys use to square a briar block before chucking it into the lathe for drilling? I have used a compound mitre saw but I can't help but wonder if there is a better way.

Same here, the disk grinder makes a perfect squaring tool.

In lieu of a disk sander, I use a table saw to skim a slight, SLIGHT amount off of 3 sides. It's worked well so far.

I only got my 1 " belt/5" disk sander last week, but it has already made a huge improvement to my squaring process... takes about 3 minutes or less to have a perfectly squared block!

Big difference! Reccomended...
