has anyone spun silver caps for pipes? Does Anyone have any techniques or sugesstiions thanx Bob Clark

I tried silver, and gave up on it. It's possible to spin it, but at the size we use for pipes, it's a cast iron b***h to make it behave. At a certain point it basically stops cooperating and tears, then you're finished. It needs to be annealed over and over again, and you have to be careful not to reticulate it, so a MAPP torch is a no-no. :)

I have successfully spun copper more than once, however. It's a lot softer, and doesn't work harden quite as bad or as quickly.
