Is it OK for a mortise to be made of delrin?

Perfectly fine. Don't listen to the delrin naysayers :), there just a little cranky cause their prunes haven't kicked in yet :)

Yes, it's fine. Just don't put a Delrin tenon in it. Delrin on anything else is slick; Delrin on Delrin is grabby.

Yeah, I'm working on a pipe that uses a delrin mortise, I turned an integral Ebonite tenon on the stem, such a nice fit!
