general question regarding banding

is there a thread here or can someone provide an overview for making /using different woods /metals as banding on the stem? i am somewhat nervous about using the epoxy i see recommended and the various other glues- are there concerns that they interact with the smoke and leave any 'after taste' or any such thing?

Don't worry about it, they never come into contact with the smoke anyway.
