POY sounds like the seventh level of hell to me. I respect those who have walked through said fires unscathed, but that's not for me.

Unless it's two or more, you're just tryin' to get some mileage out of having made the mistake yourself.

I've done at least one per year since around 2004.

The most recent were Neill Roan's PFP POY for 2012, the P&T POY for 2013, and the latest was Briar blues POY for 2013. So, Mr. Smartypants, that's 2 for 2013 alone.

They are a good chunk of business for me.

I am seriously impressed. Even as agreeable, soft-spoken, warm, fuzzy, and lovable as I am, I can't imagine dealing with all the special case pleading, last minute spec changes, payment games, and so forth that you POY guys have to deal with.

Although I now recall telling the world back in 2006 that you were the Human Frazing Machine based on measurements taken from a pair of your Belges I bought back then, so I shouldn't be surprised, I guess. POY's are the perfect application of such a freak talent.

I declined a couple of POY or Club pipe commissions due to the fact that I am part time in pipe making and I have no plans of ever going full time. In my opinion it is too much of a commitment to do unless you are full time AND very well versed in production and efficiency, and it also takes away from those that are full time and need the steady reliable work.

I have done several small batch production pipes and that was enough for me. No way I would take a 50+ POY. It's ok though because on the few crazy occasions I did quote for them no one was willing to pay what I wanted, they all wanted something around the $100 mark
