I have a website

Post by mightysmurf8201 »

So I in no way consider myself a pro, but I felt it was time to build a web site to at least have a place to display my work and rant about myself to those few poor souls who will listen. Not using it to promote sales or anything like that for now. Just wanted a place of my own on the interweb. I've still got a bunch of stuff I'd like to add, but this is what I have so far. I used kompozer to put it together. I'm not tech savvy at all, so if anyone has any advice on ways to make it better, I'm all ears.

I am a web developer. Not a designer. But just make sure your pictures aren't larger than 1MB when you upload them and the pages will load faster. Otherwise, it looks like this site will do the job.

Pretty cool! I can't offer any help with your website. My connection here is super slow and sometimes loads up websites all funky. I read your "about me" and it made me think about my grandpa. He was coast guard in WWII looking for uboats up and down the east coast. He has quite a few interesting and humorous stories from that time in his life.

Keep up the good work. Since it appears that you have more free time, you have really stepped it up a notch on the forum: managing the PITH, gallery postings, amoungst other helpful post. It is nice to see forum members really participating and taking the time (unlike me...)

Congrats on the new site and I look forward to seeing more pipes!

Ok, I just realized that I need to resize the photos BEFORE inserting them into kompozer. Thanks Jeremiah. I was actually wondering why some of the pics took a few seconds to come up. I'll fix it this weekend.

Thanks. I'm just glad I can give back. This forum has given me so much. There's no way my pipe making would be where it is without it.
That's awesome about your grandfather. Coast Guard played a crucial, and much overlooked role in WWII. I'm sure his stories are quite interesting.
I do indeed have more time as of late. I just transferred from a cutter that was gone over half the year to another cutter on the Great Lakes. We're not gone nearly as much :D and the work is much less dangerous than what I was doing before. My wife appreciates that. Up here we maintain buoys and break ice as needed, otherwise, we don't get underway. And with the new shop I built in my new house, things couldn't be better. Time is still a bit limited trying to raise 5 boys and all, but I usually manage to squeeze in an hour or two of shop time every evening to keep me sane.

Be careful of spelling, engineer is spelled incorrectly. I'm a bit of a spelling/English Nazi but I always believe on a website one has to be careful.

Otherwise, looks good and good luck with completing it.

And, thanks for your service!
