rustication question
rustication question
When You rusticate should You try to anticipate how much wood will be removed so the shank end is not larger than the shank? Do You rusticate then re-sand the shank and stem? Here is an example and I would appreciate any other critiques. Thanks, Norm. I almost forgot to thank Every one who gave Me good advice at the Chicago show, Thank You.
Re: rustication question
I've been wondering the same thing about rustication and sand blasting.
Re: rustication question
Many, many pipes just show a cut line where blasting or rusticating begins. The very best pipes fade a little in texture at the stem but basically it blends from textured surface to stem pretty seamlessly. So, yes, if you are blasting big or rusticating very heavy, take it into account in your shaping. You can always remove wood - can't put it back!
