As an act of supreme humility I nervously post my first pipe.
Its actually my first wood working adventure. I am ok with the shape (shooting for Prince) though I'm sure there are lots of ways to improve (and I look forward to advice). But I'm SUPER BUMMED that while doing the stain I was stupidly sanding the shank without the stem attached and am left with the misfit.

i figured I would have been laughed off the forum by now.
Re: 1st pipe (prince) as introduction
I can't offer much feedback other than its much better than my first attempt....and second as well.
Re: 1st pipe (prince) as introduction
For a proper prince you need to take a ton of briar off the heel of the pipe. When shaping the bowl think ball shape with a straight-ish gradual taper to the rim. You already know your mistake with the junction between the shank and stem. Best advice I can give is to make another one. Glad to have you on the forum and look forward to seeing your work progress.

Re: 1st pipe (prince) as introduction
Really not bad--it's recognizable as a prince, which is an accomplishment in itself. I think taking more meat off of the shank/bowl junction would have helped lighten the pipe a bit.
