A bit more stout in design than my usual approach to making pipes.
It was a bit difficult to get this one right. Very good practice!
The accent ring is acrylic.
The stain is not totally even. It's a little light in some places, but i'm still pleased with the result.
Everything is handmade.

What would totally take this pipe from being a nice pipe to a great pipe is the bottom line of the shank. On a bent pipe, the shank line needs to swoop lower. Basically, you need to connect the curve coming down around the bottom of the bowl to the curve in the stem in one, continuous curve.
Great progress so far! Keep up the good work!

Thanks Jeremiah. I know the bottom line looked a little bit off, but i was thinking more about the stem.
Now that you point that out, it becomes more visible to me. Thanks!

Can you really accomplish this without drilling the mortise and airway on different angles?sandahlpipe wrote:What would totally take this pipe from being a nice pipe to a great pipe is the bottom line of the shank. To make a bent pipe look right, you need to drill mortise and airway at different angles. Otherwise, you're going to have to leave too much material on to get the right shape and your proportions will then be off.
