#15 - Rusticated cutty kinda thing with bamboo

Post by BrianMadsen »

My second bamboo attempt. Much better than my first one!
I'm keeping this pipe, because it's a bit thin at the bottom,
plus the stamping isn't great.
It's my first attempt at a bowl coating.
I tried a mix with water, honey and charcoal, but that was just weird. It didn't really stick to the bowl.
Then i tried waterglass, water and charcoal, and now it works fine. I look forward to smoke it and see how it tastes.
Apparently there is a little piece of metal in the stem. It must have fallen in the mix when they made the rod. Weird feature!

Not a bad early bamboo pipe. There is a little disproportion with the diameter of the bamboo compared to the bowl, but not too far out to make it not work.

The main thing that looks odd that sticks out is the transition from the bamboo to the stem. If you can continue some curvature that the bamboo has into the saddle, you will achieve a better look.

Yeah, i still have a "primitive" way of cutting bamboo, so the angles are a bit hard to get right.
The block was very small, and the bamboo is actually very thin, so i couldn't really get the proportions bettter.

But i'm keeping this pipe, because i'm not completely satisfied with it.
I'm gonna smoke it soon to test my bowl coating, so this will be a test pipe.
