Anyone made knives? Need a little help.

Post by baweaverpipes »

Wanting to make a couple of knives for Christmas.
Where's the best place to buy quality blanks?
I want it easy, all I'm going to do is make the scales out of briar and ivory.
Amazon has some, but don't know about the qualityl
Any help would be appreciated.

I made a couple of knives a while ago. I got a sheet of O-2 steel and ground them myself, but then I did make one knife from a damascus steel that I bought here: http://www.alabamadamascussteel.com/

You might be able to pick knife blanks up at Woodcraft. Pretty sure they have some of that stuff.

Yup. If you've got one local it could be a convenient source. They have blanks for pocket knives, hunting knives, kitchen knives, and even ceramic knives

Every now and then Woodcraft puts them on sale for $10 each in a variety of sizes and styles. I picked up a few awhile back.
