I just got a set of three double beveled violin makers knives. Also available with single bevel. Insanely sharp high carbon steel (keep oiled or they'll rust) that won't flex like X-acto blades. These are un-handled (make your own) but they also make carving knives with handles.

Only 4?! I guess it all depends on what one is "into". I used to do a lot of other wood working, primarily making poker and domino tables. Hand planes can be very useful. I was specifically after the violin knives. They will come in handy for working the shank/bowl juncture and as scrapers.
