#1602 - Elephants foot (sort of...)

Post by T. Suominen »

Hi all!

It's been a loooo-oooo-ooong time since i've posted any pipes (or made any, for that matter...)
Few months back I got tired for not doing any pipes, so I rented a small workshop space and laid out all my pipe-making equipment.

Here are the results. (I'll put them in different posts for critique-purposes)

So, #1602 - Sort of E. foot.

I think this pipe is very well done. My only thought is that the shank is a mite thick for my taste.

The shank also appears to bulge in the middle. The stem could be thinned out significantly. I'm envious of your finish work, though. Very nice.

Thank you again Wayne! I don't think it actually bulges, it straightens out on middle part and I think it creates an illusion of a bulge... (Another lesson for me I see! If it SEEMS to bulge, it doesn't matter whether it really does or does not, it still LOOKS like it does, so a more pronounced taper next time then.) Yea, the stem is a bit on the heavy side, and could use a little diet... Although, on such a big pipe, a bit more strenght is probably needed.
