MaxBehrens

Post by MaxBehrens »

Hello all

My name is Max, and I am an engineering student from South Africa. I just started pipe smoking and making my own, hence I am very new to almost everything on this forum but I am always keen to learn. I don't have access to many materials and tools, so I just make do with what I have. I do however have a very old belt sander which is how I did most of the shaping.
I got into pipe smoking via cigars, and I love creating things with my hands. My first (and only so far) pipe I made is a little lopsided, uneven, and has tiny scratches almost everywhere. This marks the start of my journey which hopefully produces something wonderful at the end.

Oh, that would be wonderful!
However, I am still a student which means that I don't have a lot of funds. My first pipe cost be about 150ZAR (about 12 USD) to make including drill bits I had to buy and can use in the future.
But I would still like to know of someone else down here who makes pipes!

Yes it is Charl. Look up his name on the members list (use "find member") and you should be able to PM him. I just googled South African Pipe Makers and there are several others listed. Generally, established pipe makers are pretty generous with their time and experience.
