Turning on metal lathe?
So my new PM1030V arrived this week and I have been previously doing all my wood turning in a smaller Jet wood lathe and stems work on a small metal lathe. Do those of you with a metal lathe turn wood on it too? I know that I can and see myself keeping the little jet around as a buffing station for my Beal system at a minimum. Just curious what works for others.

Re: Turning on metal lathe?
I turn on my metal lathe almost exclusively now. If you mount the tool lower in the tool post, you can rest a hand tool on it for the bowl. I’m sure if I were great at the etch-a-sketch method, I could turn a gentle curve that way, but I don’t have to go through trial and error again to do it by hand. I keep my wood lathe around for bowls and other random stuff.

Are you using any dust collection?

I vacuum when I’m done. I have a dust collection hose set up for it, but it just gets in the way. The little bit of sanding I do by hand doesn’t warrant turning it on for me.
