volcano with bamboo 10/27/18

Post by Doug535 »

Another attempt at bamboo. Bamboo "divot" not as clean as I'd like ( Jeremiah gave me a tip on how he does it and i need to order more tools :D ) I could have done a little larger radius on the top of the transition I think.

The bowl is good. The bamboo is good. The stem flare is wrong. It needs to flow together there. First, make the flare more of a flare (concave on both sides of the disc) instead of a bead. Second, make a smoother transition if you’re going to trumpet the stem. You have a V-shaped stem colliding with a bead. Third, don’t make the flare perceptibly larger than the nodes of the bamboo. These small tweaks will turn that piece into a very solid composition.

Thanks Jeremiah, I'll do another stem for it when I get caught up with what else I've got going and get the new tools.
