Hello all. I’m just a regular dude, Army Vet, with a lot of time on my hands. I like pipes so I decided to try my hand at making them, at the hobbyist level for now.

The only way to get started is to jump in. The advice that you will get has a whole lot more relevance when you have tried your hand at shaping briar and ebonite.
Most of us got started with a pre drilled kit, and slowly added specialized tools as the need became apparent.
