Leather working saddle stitching awls

We all make stuff other than pipes, so here's a place where "anything goes" as far as showing off some of your projects and other hobbies.

Leather working saddle stitching awls

Post by Slipangle »

Relatively new member here. I signed up to learn how to replace a stem on an Ashton I own.
Haven't gotten around to that yet. But thought I'd add a few pics of some of the things I make.
These are designed to use a diamond shaped awl blade for the purpose of hand stitching leather.
I make the handles and nickel silver collars, but the chucks are Starrett. Not capable of making those.
Thanks

Very nice. A pretty turned handle makes an ordinary tool so much more pleasurable to use.

Thank you Caskwith. Learned a ton of very frustrating lessons finishing this open pored rosewood in the lower two photos.
