15+ years, with a few years hiatus in there.

How you got into pipe making:
First, I couldn't afford higher quality pipes, like $150 and up. But, being a cabinetmaker, I knew I could learn to make one. Second, I like to make my own things if I can.
I started by making several pipes from hardwood drops from work. It was free material to practice with. Then I eventually switched to briar. From the first pipe I carved, I was hooked. My goal is to learn to make a very high quality pipe. I would rather make one very nice pipe, than several average pipes.

Other interesting facts:
I'm a father of four fantastic kids, two boys, two girls. My wonderful wife and I have been married 18 years. I play guitar. Acoustic music is my favorite: Jazz, Blues, Folk. I love to read. I'm a big GK Chesterton fan. There's more, but that's enough for the moment.
