I posted this on the facebook page and Premal suggested that I post it here as well.
I am perplexed about how to salvage or correct my mistake. I drilled the mortise at the wrong angle in my opinion. How can I correct it at this point or is it even possible?

Match the top line by removing material from bottom. Pic attached

Also, how you bend the stem can possibly help to visually correct/hide it to some degree.
