Am I crazy, overambitous, or just trying to challenge myself?

Am I crazy, overambitous, or just trying to challenge myself?

Post by Adui »

After the discussion in the PITH thread about the Eskimo shape, I have decided I want to try to carve one just to see if I can do it.

This would be my 7th carve attempt. Also my first ever shaping the stem. My plan at this point is to use a pre-shaped stem and cut it back / reshape it to fit the style. I may scrap that and order a good sized piece of blank material instead. I'm still working the logistics.
I hope to be at least half the person my dogs thinks I am.

Answered my own question. The block I have isn't going to make a decent Eskimo, its too small. So I'm going to try for a BullDog. I already have stems for that anyhow

It probably will, if you flip it on it's side :-) Since eskimo's are pretty squashed, you don't need more height than the width of a block.
