NavyHMPiper

Post by NavyHMpiper »

Afternoon y’all,

Real name: Jordan Witten
Age: 28
Location: currently in Florida for the time being until the Navy decides its time to go again
Years a pipe smoker: 3
How you got into pipe making: I’m currently waiting on my first pre drilled kit to come in so that I can get my feet wet.
Other interesting facts: for the past 10 years I’ve been in the Navy fabricating Dental prosthetics of all sorts, given me a lot of time to work my dexterity and patience. Lots and lots of patience and do-overs, hopefully the attention to detail helps me as I journey in this hobby.

Welcome to the fun! from one sailor to another Thank you for serving (STG3 1987-1992)

This is the place to ask all things pipe making. They seem a bit standoffish at first, but they warm up a little. Besides, there is more good info on the art than anywhere else.

Oh and there's the scathing reviews of your work to keep you humble too
I hope to be at least half the person my dogs thinks I am.

Welcome. This is a great place to learn anything and everything about pipe making at the highest level. I am also a relative beginner.

As a former Marine I'd like to thank you as well.

...for shuttling us around in your boats. You keep 'em in really nice shape.

Well we all know that seamen are known for swabbing the deck just as well as marines are good for sweeping the sidewalk while it’s raining

OK, love the Marine/Navy banter.
I’m going to share this true story.
A medical colleague lived on a farm when he went to medical school (in Kansas) after a hitch in the Navy as a medic.
He and his wife were offered a pregnant sow which had a prolapsed rectum.
They accepted the sow and agreed to deal with the ailment.
The farmer asked”Are you sure that you can take care of a pig with a prolapsed rectum?”
To which my colleague replied “Can I take care of a pig with a prolapsed rectum?...........
Listen mister, I took care of Marines!”

Hm... I wonder why the Village People lineup was a cowboy, a policeman, a construction worker, a biker, an Indian, and... a sailor.

No idea, myself. Maybe it has something to do with the old saying that a hundred sailors might go to sea but fifty couples come back?
