Need Help With Dimensions On This Straight Dublin.

Post by shikano53 »

OK so, here is my next project currently on the bench.
The Plateaux is rather extreme from left to right.
My question is should I shorten the stem Or just leave it?
I know billiard wise the 50/50 split is at the stem/shank junction. This stem currently is much longer than that.
Also, in light of my other post about a previous Dublin and comments on the stem/shank junction this junction is pretty good IMHO...for now.
What do you guys think I should do to proceed?
Thanks guys and gals.

Leave the stem length. It matches the height of the middle of the bowl. You're going to want to put a slight bend in this stem to remedy the backwards cant illusion of the bowl in relation to the shank.

IAWW. The length of the stem as you have it may break some rule, but it would be too short if you followed the “rule”.
I also agree with a bend in this stem perhaps as much as 20 degrees.

That stem/stummel mating does look much much better, and it should stay that way as long as all work from now on happens with them tightly together.... Nice improvement!
