Varnish is a "pipemaking term of doom".

People who are learned in chemistry, pipemaking, and woodworking will understand varnish or shellac, but your general buying public will not. According to them, varnish is bad. Use that word, and claim to use it, at your own peril....

Strange, but true.

Kurt,
I'll put this questioon to you beause I know your familiar with the Woodcraft catalogue. Did you see the new shellac flakes they're carrying by Liberon? They sell them in 1/2lbs now. Also they handle a ready mixed version, a 500ml/3lb.cut was wondering, do you think it's worth looking into the ready mix?
