"poor man's" finishing sanding discs

I haven't been able to order a foam/sponge back up pad for finishing sanding, but I had some 3m foam-backed sanding pads floating around. I used some of my cheapy rubber backup pads for a pattern and cut discs out of each of the 3m pads, which I then adhered to the rubber back up pad and voila.. foam sanding discs. They worked well, but if you're too aggressive, you can flake off the abrasive material. In any event, these little buggers saved me hours of sanding and used otherwise useless sanding pads, to boot. Thought I'd share this for posterity's sake
