Stabilizing wood for extensions
I thought there was already a thread about this topic. How do you guys stabilize exotic woods you want to use for extentions?
Craig,
I have also read that thread, this is one of the products that was mentioned PENTACRYL

If I remember correctly someone used CA glue also but I am not sure it met majority approval - it was quite a while back

Pentacryl is only good for stabilizing wet wood. It's a good product, but it will not strengthen or do anything but stop wet wood from cracking as it dries.

Check out http://www.penturners.org for lots of info on stabilization. I included a link to a tutorial w/ pics.

In light of the comments regarding using Pentacryl on wet wood only, I came across a product called Wood Juice.
Here's what is said about it: Wood Juice is a thinner version of Pentacryl. It was developed for stabilizing dry or semi-dry wood and green wood that has been cut, carved, or turned to thin dimensions. It can also be used for wood that has a natural stability such as Basswood.
