Open channel - easy draw !

Seems that I was a bit absent-minded, LOL.

What would you do ?
Throw it in the trash can ?
Close the hole ?
Make it a system pipe ?

It is presmoked - and not what we call a "high grade".

I would turn a dowel from a scrap piece of briar and plug the hole. Use a dremel to grind the dowel to match the rest of the surface, and stain it to match. Don't use any epoxy, just make the dowel a little oversized so that it's a tight fit.

The risk is that you could split the bowl if it's too tight a fit, but at this point you've got nothing to lose.

I don't know I'd feel comfortable selling it, since I've never actually done the above and I don't know what the long term effects might be.

Hey Rolf,

Put a little metal ring thingy in the hole to make it look like you did it on purpose, and call it a "carbouretor". :P

I think I will do it the way you said, Kurt.
I will not sell it but gift it to a poor piper in town.

LOL, Rad, I could also fill the hole with a diamond. :D

BTW, ckr, I´d not be the founder of an escape route for condensation:

3 Musketeers is stamped on it, "genuine briar" 4000.
I have it since decades and do not remember where it came from.
The hole is plugged with a plastic cap in front the bowl - but I lost the cap. :?

So I need an idea for that one, too.

Hello Rolf,

Cap the Musketeer :fencing: with a Ruby and you're on your way to a 7 Day Gem-line set!

Only 5 more to drill through. Fill the generic and no-name pipes with gems and turn them into high grades! :D

Howdy Gunnar !

I have several more pipes which I will put in a show case in my striptease-bar and call it Rolf´s Horror Cabinet, LOL.

What´s on in L.A. ?
Will there be a show this year ?
I emailed Robert Vance but never got a reply.

Best,
Rolf

Rolf, I haven't heard anything either. I have no idea if there will be a show or not. Right now, I expect not. They're running out of time to get the word out.

I like the idea of a new stem via a dowl and the bowl. I think it would look more intentional. Its nice other than THAT HUGE GAPING WOUND VISIBLE FROM VIET NAM.! LOL

Hi Rolf,

Right now the April date is not going to happen. Last year there was a California Proposition (86 I think. You can look it up on line if you want to read about it) on the ballots in November that would have essentially wiped out many tobacco businesses. The details aren't important, but this caused Robert and the club to put the show on hold until they knew wether or not any show was reasonable or possible. The proposition was voted on by the general population and was voted out. It did not pass.

Robert and the club are now thinking of doing a show but decided to take this time to rethink how and where to do it. It may still happen later this year, but it might be next year. I don't know yet.

I might see him this weekend and if you are interested I'll ask about it.

Hey Gunnar,
do you remember the after-show-sales on Monday in Chicago ?
http://www.piepenhoeker.de/images/eChica44

I fear there will be no show in 2007.
Last year they had a show in Phoenix,AZ.
Perhaps they should put the two shows together.
Could be difficult to find a location.

I love Hollywood, Carmel, Monterrey, etc., and it would be great if I could combine vacation with some business again.
Would appreciate to meet Mr. Ed again in the original Tinderbox.

Here are two boys dreaming of better days, LOL:

Joel, will I meet you in Chicago ?

Rolf, I sure hope so! Right now I'm planning on attending. Probably need to get on the ball and book a room.

Love the pic

Yep Joel, you should try to get a room at Pheasant Run now.
If there is still somewhat available try to get a room in the Tower.
Everything else could end in a long-distance-walk. :(
The elevator of the Tower is right beside the hotel bar ! :D
I can email the picture in full size and you can get a print version, no problem.

Have to hop in bed now - it is 01.50AM in Germany.

God bless,
Rolf
