Angled Tobacco Chambers
Angled Tobacco Chambers
I have a question for the experienced pipemakers: Is it acceptable from an engineering standpoint for a tobacco chamber to not be perpendicular to the rim? I'm working on some brandy designs and it seems an angled tobacco chamber would make better use of the briar.

Todd recently posted an image of a pipe he made where the tobacco chamber isn't perpendicular to the rim. You will see this a lot on freehand pipes, where the shape requires getting the bottom of the tobacco chamber further back towards the stem in order to facilitate both the desired shape, as well as a well-crafted airway.
