Shaping before drilling, results

I just finished my first pipe done via this method that was good enough to be stamped - you can see it here:

This was a good step up from the "pretty good but with some rough edges" results I got which produced this:

And those two are the best so far, not counting the ones that were ruined and discarded. The trick works well, but my big problem is with the bowl bits - I can't use my spade bits and don't have any of those funky things that seem required to do this sort of drilling, so getting the bowl created was quite a challenge!

Bravo Sir! Given the angle that the Parcifal had to be drilled at, you didn't really start with the easiest shape did you? It looks great.

Actually the P was a lot easier to drill than that LB Collector was- that thing had NO place to brace the tailstock pin against. I suspect that a lot of the upswept bowl designs that I like may be a challenge this way, but that's what keeps the game fun.

BTW Todd, if you're planning to send over anything for the Cuxhaven show, better get it out soon - mail is already running "summer slow" here.

congrats on the holes ,really love that collector pipe fabulous shape and the grain made me angry your pipes always sell before one gets the chance to even think about it
