I have a big project in the works right now as I have been commissioned to do the 2009 club pipe for the Christian Pipe Smokers Forum. This means I have been making the same shape (a standard prince) over and over, and in doing so I have been participating in the joy/pain that is the briar lottery. In some rough shaping work I was doing yesterday, this phenomenon revealed itself in dramatic fashion.
Sometimes you win:
Sometimes you lose...badly...
*sigh*

Re: The Briar Lottery
Tell em that's the new "Sea Cave" rustication and charge em double.
ALL YOUR PIPE ARE BELONG TO US!
Re: The Briar Lottery
Just had the same thing happen, got a "sea cave" in a commission. BTW, I wouldn't throw it away, use the cigar ash and spit trick and smoke it yourself...just a suggestion...
Re: The Briar Lottery
Fill it, rusticate it and give it to yourself or a close friend as a christmas present.

I like me a pipe with a scar. It says experiance.
When life hands you lemons, light your pipe and contimplate what to do with those lemons.
