The pipe is 7.6 inches (19.5 cm) long and stands 3.2 inches (8.1 cm) tall. The tobacco chamber has a diameter of 0.79 inches (1.9 cm) and a depth of 2.1 inches (5.5 cm). Weight: 6.9 oz (195 g).
The only thing that jumps out at me is the horizontal lines in the chamber from the drilling - the side wall is visible and that part looks rough on such a well finished pipe.
The bowls of my pipes are all rough, because the break in is very very easy.
If the bowl is smooth is more beautiful, but the break in is longer (but not too much).
My english is poor, but I hope you can understand me. Excuse me.
Marco
here is another impossible pipe
Pipe is 8.8 inches (22.5 cm) long and stands 3.2 inches ( 8.2 cm) tall.and 3.8 inches (9.6 cm) large The tobacco chamber has a diameter of 0.95 inches (2.4 cm) and a depth of 2.7 inches (6.8 cm). Weight: 12.3 oz (348 g)
That's a monstrosity! A really beautiful pipe, Marco.
I've seen your pics on Tarek's site, and it seems you do all your drilling freehand. Mind sharing a few tips? I still don't have the nerve to try it myself.
yes, I freehand drill all my pipes and I will be happy to share some tips
you need an electric motor ( 0.35 hp ) at 720 rpm; in this way it will be a sacure work
here are some pics too, if you have other questions feel free to ask me
Your pipes are beautiful. Your skills are impressive. Do you drill the draught hole holding the pipe in your hands? Do you drill the draught hole first? Do you manufacture your own chamber bit? The way the chamber bit is shaped, it seems there would be a very small margin for error. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question, Scot
sorry for the late answer Scot, and thank you for your words. Yes, I always handmade drill all. First I make the model of the pipe (in this way if I find some sandpits I can change model), then I drill. In this way I get less rusticated pipes. Yes, there will always a little margin of error, but with experience it will get always lower. Here are some pics of my tools. I make these tools by myself. I hope that I can explain well
Thank you again
I work better with these ones, because in my opinion, it's easier. But this is in my opinion.
I think that each pipe maker has his way to work and each way is the best when you prefere it.
It's difficult for me explain you this in english. I'd like to talk more and more, but I've got my limits!
If one of you, my friends, comes in Italy, I'll be honoured to open my workshop.
Marco
hello?
have you done those bits, by first hammering and then file/ grinder working?
what is the material you use?
if the questions are too specific, please ignore them.
amazing and interesting stuff.
