Shank Extensions and epoxy

Hi Everybody,

I would love some input into the following question. What type of epoxy should be used for gluing an acrylic shank extension? Also where should one place the epoxy so that it does not come in contact with the smoke path and does not ooze out around the mortise/shank connection. Thanks in advance.

I use and recommend a 5 minute, two-part epoxy.

Always apply the epoxy to the tenon of any joint you are epoxy'ing. That way the excess flows the direction you need it to so it won't plug any airways. You do want excess though. It is easily removed after some drying time. (I like to remove the excess after about 4 or 5 minutes of drying when it is still rubbery. I removes cleanly in one piece.)
