Frazing Bits
Frazing Bits
Does anyone know where you can get frazing bits? I am screwing around with an idea to make a frazing bit from 3/8 steel plate. Sort of like a reverse padle bit that I can chuck up in the tool post on the lathe. Any ideas?

Re: Frazing Bits
I've seen frazing machines so I presume somebody makes bits for them, but I couldn't track down any sources. They must machine the bits for the machine itself.
Re: Frazing Bits
I found this searching the site here but it is not a Fraising bit per say. The main problem I am seeing with making one is that you are locked in to one shape / size per bit. I will mess around a bit and see if it works or I put an eye out! lol

Re: Frazing Bits
most frazing machines are hand made as I have inquired on in the past. So it would make sense that the cutting tools are as well Bob Clark

Re: Frazing Bits
Most machinists would just take an m2 hss rectangular tool bit blank and grind a curved edge with a relief angle. since it is not spinning, it does not have to be concentric.
